Just received the news that ONLY CRIMINALS is an official selection of the New Hope Film Festival!  The festival event is scheduled for July 8-17, 2011 in New Hope, PA.  This festival beautifully markets itself and its filmmakers and is cutting edge in its approach to engaging the audience with the  festival.  It is partnering with FESTIVAL GENIUS to create an interactive program guide and screening schedule where audience members can create customized calendars, rate and review the films they see and learn more about the movies they might want to see.  We’ll be contributing information to John’s page so look for it when the site is live around the end of April or early May.

Congrats AGAIN to all of the cast and crew of  ONLY CRIMINALS – seven festivals and counting!

Just heard that ONLY CRIMINALS has been accepted into the West Chester Short Film Festival scheduled for April 29th, 30th and May 1st in West Chester, PA (a lovely town about 40 minutes outside of Philadelphia).  We will let you know the exact date/time of the screening.

John’s mom graduated from West Chester University many years ago (!) and hasn’t been back to that area since.  We will probably plan a dinner before or after the screening (depending on the time of the screening) and everyone is invited who attends the screening in honor of John.

We have finalized our 3 year commitment to the 48 Hour GFC!  In its first year of support,  John’s trust will primarily provide financial support for prize money (some of the best in the film competition industry) and the development of an online Film Training/Safety Curriculum.  The GFC will be creating merchandise (tee shirts and bracelets in the tradition of the popular “livestrong” campaign).  The GFC will donate 10% of all entry fees, 10% of all merchandise sales and 50% of all bracelet sales to John’s trust.  What a win-win situation!  We will let you know when these are available.

This year, filmmakers (of all ages and skill) will be able to submit their films via the web.  Marketing efforts have always been centered on the Sarasota region but will expand to NYC and Austin this year – hotbeds of fimmaking.  If you (or anyone you know) want to learn more about this competition, go to  Nick Burch and Clint Weldon, founders of GFC, are both bright, passionate and kind young men.  They are totally committed to helping filmmakers reach their dreams.  John had a blast when he and friends participated in the inaugural GFC.

More on this as information becomes available.
